About:Please join us at the Middleboro Park Department for a day filled with friends, family, fun and, of course, basketball as we honor Matthew’s memory. Stop by for all or part of the day. This is an outdoor event that will take place rain or shine. For those not playing in the tournament, the following activities are available to enjoy throughout the day: Corn Hole Playground Prizes will be awarded to the winning 3 on 3 team. A catered dinner provided by Fork in the Road will follow the tournament at 3PM along with raffle prizes. There will be a cash bar for beverages. All proceeds from the tournament will fund the Matthew Kenney Memorial Scholarship established through the Dollars for Scholars program and to Middleboro Park Department programs/projects. If you would like to help out leading up to or on the day of the event, please contact Ellen @ [email protected] or (339)832-2481 Your love and support is what keeps us going and is very much appreciated. |
RULES:
Team Make-up: Each team should consist of 4 players. The 4th player on a team can be substituted in during any stoppage in play. Players must be 18 or older.
Scoring: The first team to 11 points (by 1s) wins. The Winner must win by 2 points or be the first team to 15 points, whichever comes first.
Officiating: Games will be officiated by volunteer referees.
Game Play:
- Possession changes after every basket (NOT “make it-take it”)
- All shots behind the 3 point line are worth 2 points.
- “Take Backs”: On defensive rebounds (including airballs) and steals, the ball must be passed or dribbled beyond the arc. The ball does not need to be given to a different player. As long as the ball goes beyond the arc, there are no limitations on who can shoot it.
- If the ball is knocked out of bounds or goes across the mid court line it shall be awarded to the opposing team (the team that did not knock it out).
- The offensive team must “pass the ball in” before a shot is attempted (make one pass before a shot is taken).
- Out-Of-Bounds. If the ball goes out-of-bounds the offensive team must check the ball with the defensive team at the top of the key.
